How people think, decide, prioritize, influence
Understanding consumers takes more than demographics.
Especially in a market as diverse as India.
One consumer can have many needs, motivations and behaviours.
One category can mean different things to different people.
One trend can take hold long before it becomes visible in the data.
We use labels to make consumers easier to describe. But what moves their choices goes much deeper.
The problem isn't a lack of data. It's understanding what drives behaviour.
We imagine a better way.
Consumers cannot be understood through isolated demographics, one-off studies or static target groups. So we bring signals, behaviours, motivations and context together into a living understanding, and carry it all the way to a decision.
What do you need to know?
The journey starts with your business question: a challenge, a requirement, an opportunity worth chasing.

What are consumers saying?
We listen continuously to conversations, behaviours and signals across the consumer landscape.

The Morning Was Never Lost / Packaged breakfast cereal, India
What if the morning was never yours to lose?
A long-established cereal business was losing sales in Eastern India and believed it was losing them to muesli, to granola and to price. Both instruments came back saying the meal had never been won in the first place.
-
Best Shield, Deepest Wound / Premium residential property, South India
What if your strongest promise was the one you keep breaking?
A premium South Indian developer was watching more than nine in ten prospects walk away after a site visit, and could not say why. The sharpest problem turned out to be one nobody had thought to ask about.

Zero Share of Voice / Affordable casual footwear, India
How do you position a brand the market has never mentioned?
A legacy Indian footwear house was moving upmarket with a young brand of its own and asked for a competitive tracker. Both instruments came back with the same answer about the brand: it is not there.

What does Outllyr do?
Outllyr helps brands understand their consumers continuously, so they can make better decisions about advertising, audiences, competition, new markets and products. It combines what people say and do across the open web with behavioural models of how they think and choose. Outllyr is a consumer intelligence company based in Bangalore.
How is Outllyr different from traditional market research?
Traditional research asks a fixed sample a fixed set of questions at one point in time; Outllyr starts from what consumers are already saying and doing, and keeps listening. Surveys and focus groups remain valuable inputs, but their answers can be shaped by incentives, social desirability and the research setting, and they age from the day the study closes. Outllyr's understanding stays current as the market changes.
How does Outllyr work?
You bring a business question, and Outllyr works through it in five steps: ask, listen, understand, model, and simulate and decide. Echo listens to conversations across forums, social media, search trends, videos, reviews, news and blogs. Those signals are read for what sits behind the behaviour: needs, attitudes, occasions, influences and competitive moves. Twin then models how different consumers could respond to a change in price, message, product or target segment, so you can see what to do next.
What are Echo and Twin?
Echo and Twin are Outllyr's two instruments: Echo listens to what the market says, and Twin models the consumers you can't hear. Echo scans the open web for conversations about your category, brand and competitors, and organises them into themes, emerging trends and competitive signals. Twin uses behavioural models to explore how different people may think, choose and respond. Together they give a fuller view of the consumer than either gives alone.
Can Outllyr understand consumers who are not active online?
Yes. That is what Twin is for. Many important consumers, such as rural households with little online presence or young people who rarely post, leave few traces on the open web. Twin models them from behavioural traits rather than from what they post, so they are part of the decision rather than missing from it. Twin's results are modelled, not observed, and are always presented that way.
How quickly can we get answers?
In hours or days, rather than the weeks a new study takes. Echo is always on, so the listening has started before you ask. Follow-up questions, new angles and new audiences do not need a new brief, a new study or more fieldwork.
How do we know the insights can be trusted?
Every insight links back to the evidence behind it: the consumer signals, conversations and sources it came from. Decision makers can check the reasoning for themselves and take it to their stakeholders with confidence.
Which markets and languages does Outllyr cover?
Outllyr reads conversations in 50+ languages and dialects, across 100+ markets. It started with India, where one category can mean very different things across regions, languages and life stages, and it is built for every market.
Is Outllyr a one-off study or an ongoing service?
Ongoing, by design. Outllyr works as insights as a service, not as a research vendor. Rather than delivering a report and stopping, it stays with your business questions, tracks how your consumers change and answers the next question when it comes up, so research becomes a continuous part of how you decide.
